London Olympic Park Business Plan (Subconsultant)

Alex Garvin & Associates worked as a subconsultant to Grant Thornton to develop a business plan for the post-Olympic condition of the London Olympic Park for the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA). AGA conducted site visits, reviewed past work on the Park, participated in consultations with the client group, and contributed various sections to Grant Thornton's report:

  • A review of the preliminary design work that had been done and recommendations for improvements. Foremost among these was a reconception of the Olympic Park from being one large park to being several, smaller parks that can serve as catalysts for development after 2012
  • A review of different park financing mechanisms
  • A discussion about the inherent conflicts between great urbanism and a functional Olympic plan
  • An exploration of the elements that comprise great parks
