As Managing Director for Planning, Development and Design for NYC2008 and NYC2012 (between 1996 and 2005), Alex Garvin (1) established the site and building specification for all the competition and practice facilities for a proposed Summer Olympic Games, (2) evaluated more than 500 potential sites for use during the Olympics, (3) devised strategies for moving 500,000 spectators, 75,000 workers, 25,000 journalists, 15,000 athletes, coaches and referees, and 5,000 VIPs every day, (4) selected and supervised architects to prepare preliminary designs for all Olympic sites, (5) prepared a capital budget for all construction based on the net operating income from a NYC Olympics, and (6) directed the creation of all graphics presentation.
